Taiwanese-Japanese star Makiyo’s previous landlord was greeted with a rude shock after the 37-year-old left the home that she had been renting for the past 15 years in a huge mess.
It was apparently so filthy that three cleaning companies refused to clean it.
Makiyo told SET News that she had no choice but to move as her landlord wanted to take back the house.
As the last time she cleaned the place was five years ago, it wasn’t in the best of states (no kidding) when she returned the property.
Makiyo revealed that she had given up on cleaning the 2,140 sq ft space as it was too big. When she was done cleaning one area, another spot would be dusty.
It didn’t help that she hadn’t stepped into the kitchen in over a year. As the garbage truck would arrive at 9pm when the star isn’t home, she hadn't been able to dispose of her trash, so over time, it just accumulated in the kitchen. Even her friends were afraid to enter her kitchen.
They said that as soon as they opened the door, they saw cockroaches and bugs. It was like a haunted house! said Makiyo.
Makiyo recalled that the last time she cleaned her place, she had engaged a cleaning company to do the, um, dirty work. The four cleaners were taken aback when they walked into her home.
Not only did they request for an additional hourly charge of NT$200 (S$10), they also asked for three extra pairs of hands.
She refused and eventually, only two cleaners stayed behind to do the clean-up. And even then, they could not complete it after eight hours.
The house she is renting now is around 712 sq ft, and Makiyo said that she has no intentions of buying her own place in Taipei as she doesn’t wish to be tied down. She eventually hopes to live in the mountains with her dog.
