Taiwan’s “ Most Beautiful Auntie” Chen Meifeng, 66, Is A Pro At Shrugging Off Internet Hate

The criticism never bothered her anyway.

Getting called the “most beautiful obasan (Japanese for auntie)” isn’t exactly the most flattering of nicknames, but Taiwanese actress Chen Meifeng, 66, has totally embraced it.

Meifeng, who played Romeo Tan's mum in Mediacorp drama The Dream Makers II, recently spoke to Taiwanese media about how she responds to haters.

The actress shared that she receives comments from netizens, who criticise her for having "so much plastic surgery”, and for having a face they say is “so swollen, its totally changed”.

However, Meifeng has just four words to say to these haters: “Thanks for the advice”.

Looking good.

She shared that when it comes to dealing with haters, she prefers to be a pacifist.

“I’m someone who doesn't like to argue, or have conflict with others,” Meifeng said.

“If their comments get too much, I won’t welcome them back next time, but I can accept everything else, I’ll just treat it as if I’m helping them destress,” she said.

Meifeng's a stunner.

Meifeng, who’s been in showbiz for 40 years, also spoke about her career, sharing that she treasures every single job she gets.

The actress added that back in her prime she would work for over 12 hours a day, but she never felt disillusioned with the industry.

“I feel like this is what showbiz is about. When the audience doesn’t want [to watch] you anymore, that’s when you should retire. Right now, I still have the chance [to work], and there’s people who are still willing to give me opportunities. As long as the audience is willing to support me, then I’ll continue on,” she said.

Similarly, Meifeng added that she’ll never reject a fan who asks to take a photo with her.

“I’ve been an artiste for so many years, if there’s no one who wants to take a picture with me, then I might have to reflect [on myself],” she laughed.

“To be able to run into someone who likes me is a very happy thing,” she said.
