There Are Free Nature Tours At Gardens By The Bay To Help You Uncover Hidden Gems & Learn More About Sustainability

Educational, fun and free.

You’re familiar with Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome, the Supertrees or even the annual Christmas Wonderland. But have you heard of the or the “Monkey No-Climb” tree at Gardens by the Bay’s (GBTB) World of Plants?

Its official name is the sandbox tree and the unique, prickly tree that’s native to the Amazon is one of the stops among GBTB’s new Nature and Sustainability tours, kicking off in January 2023.

Held on every Saturday and Sunday, the hour-long guided walking tours will take participants through the lesser-known sustainability features of GBTB and how our natural environment, biodiversity and climate change are intertwined. Who knows, you may even uncover hidden gems at GBTB that you may otherwise have missed without a professional guide, like, a plant that smells like root beer. Yes, really.

All tours are free-of-charge for all Singaporeans and residents, with selected tours even including admission to the cooled conservatories. Pre-registration is now open, and folks can sign up on a first-come-first-serve basis here. Subsequently, registration will open on the first Wednesday of each month.

Didn’t get a slot? Fret not ’cos the series is slated to run until 2025. The full series will see eight different routes with five thematic tours, starting with Carbon and Climate, and Urban Wetlands in January. From February, the series will also include Biodiversity and Ecosystems, and Seeds and Senses (Smell).
