There’s A New Ferry Service That’ll Take You From S’pore To Desaru In 90 Mins — A Round-Trip Ticket Is $98 For A Limited Time

A new option for a quick getaway or even a day trip to Desaru from Singapore.

Going to Desaru in Johor for a quick getaway or even a day trip will be much easier soon — a new ferry service between Singapore and Desaru will kick off operations on Jul 7.

The voyage will take about 90 minutes each way, and the ferry will take a direct route connecting Singapore’s Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal with the Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal. This will make the journey between Singapore and the Malaysian seafront holiday town more convenient. Previously, travellers would have to take a ferry from Singapore to Kota Tinggi then drive about 45 minutes to Desaru.

[Update, Jun 30:] Ferry ticket prices and service schedules have just been released on Desaru Coast and Batam Fast's websites, ahead of its Jul 7 launch. A round-trip ferry ticket costs $118, but there's a promotional price of $98 from Jul 7 until Oct 6. A one-way ticket costs $70.

The ferry from Singapore departs at 8.30am, and the return trip from Desaru is at 5.30pm. Passengers are allowed up to 10kg of hand-carry luggage and 20kg for check-in luggage excess baggage is charged at RM3 (S$1) per kg.

There will be one round trip service from Thursday to Sunday in the initial months of operations, with each ferry accommodating up to 330 passengers each time. The frequency of services and capacity of ferries will scale as demand increases, according to a joint statement by the newly-launched Desaru Coast resort and appointed ferry operator Batam Fast.

The ferry service will also give travellers from Singapore convenient access to Desaru Coast, whether it’s a day trip to go golfing or a day out at the Adventure Waterpark (above), or a stay at one of the four resorts there.

Desaru Coast has just rolled out promotional daycation and hotel stay packages that include ferry tickets.

A daycation deal that includes a ferry ticket, entry to Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast and a RM30 F&B voucher at the attraction costs RM378 (S$118). Golfers will delight at the Golfer's Day Out daytrip package (RM638, S$199) that includes a ferry ticket, one round of 18-hole golf at The Else Club Desaru Coast and a three-course lunch.

Hotel stay packages start at RM2,379 (S$743) for two people for a 3D/2N beach getaway for two deal. That comes with a pair of ferry tix, accommodation, daily breakfast, Adventure Waterpark tickets and a three-course lunch as well as an Italian dinner for two.
