Kyoto’s known for its matcha and that happens to be the inspiration behind this brand new Hello Kitty room in Resi Stay The Kyoto's latest Hello Kitty room. Combining the Hello Kitty and tea themes has resulted in a vibrant, kitschy 34sqm studio which accommodates four pax and comes with a mini kitchenette and sitting area.

This room is a true-blue Hello Kitty fan's dream come true, with the Sanrio character featured in various elements of the room. Look up above the two double beds and you'll find a kimono-clad Hello Kitty features in a traditional Japanese (faux) window.

Resi Stay The Kyoto

Across the room, a giant wall mural of Hello Kitty enjoying tea and snacks. But the IG-worthy highlight in the room are the giant dango sofas and a coffee table made in the likeness of a giant cup of matcha in the sitting area, where you’ll definitely be spending a lot of time snapping photos. The Hello Kitty Maiko Room in Resi Stay Nishiki is actually housed in a traditional townhouse with Japanese style interiors that’ll make you feel like you’re living in old Kyoto. But don’t worry, it has all the modern fittings (bathrooms, air con, wifi, the whole works), all given the Hello Kitty treatment. You’ll find the famous feline in many nooks and crannies in the 42.5sqm room (which sleeps four pax), from the bed headboards and wall murals, to bathroom accessories and even the old-school sliding fusama doors. Six out of over 200 rooms at the hotel are Hello Kitty themed rooms, and these precious few units come in two distinct Hello Kitty-themed interior styles. One veers towards the traditional (above), while the other is more modern (below). Both, however, are unabashedly pink and feature the famous feline front and centre. Guests eager to rediscover Japan will also be pleased to know that the hotel is conveniently close to attractions like the Sensoji temple.
