Tosh Zhang Calls Haters Of Ah Girls Go Army “The Truly Low Class Ones” After The Movie Hits S$1mil In Box Office Takings
The YouTuber-turned actor, who got his big break playing Sergeant Ong in Jack Neo's Ah Boys franchise, also tells haters to "stay salty and keep the mediocre hate coming".
Though its reception from movie critics and netizens has been harsh (to say the least), Jack Neo's Ah Girls Go Army has been raking in the big bucks at the box office.
According to a post by the director, the movie, which opened in cinemas on Tuesday (Feb 1), has made S$1.15mil in ticket sales already. Not bad for a movie that was so roundly criticised hor?
Tosh then went on to write that he’s “immensely proud of the AGGA cast” for "facing so much negativity online”.

While his Facebook post was measured and celebratory, Tosh was a little more heated on Instagram, where he shared a screenshot of his FB post.
"And what are the haters gonna say now?" he wrote. "As usual, they will say SG [Singapore] audiences are low class and have no taste (sic). But you know who are the truly low class ones? Y’all loser ass haters spouting negativity constantly and putting people down."
He continued: "Understand this - what you say about others says more about you than it says about them. Stay salty and keep the mediocre hate coming while the franchise continues to be a success a decade on.”
The first Ah Boys movie, Ah Boys to Men, was released in 2012.
Tosh’s post was very well received by the cast of AGGA, with its stars like Glenn Yong, Yang Guang Ke Le, Apple Chan, Kelly Kimberly Cheong, and Eswari Gunasagar leaving comments showing their support.

Similarly, a number of netizens left comments expressing that they really enjoyed watching the movie.
Tosh also further explained his stance in a reply to a netizen who commented: "Classifying every person who didn’t enjoy the movie into a petty hater is kind of childish and portrays a bad look to an already bland media industry in Singapore.”
In his reply, Tosh wrote: "Legit constructive criticism is definitely alright and needed for the media industry to improve. It is not realistic to expect every single person to enjoy the film as everyone’s tastes are different. I am referring only to those who are unnecessarily mean spirited and put others down for no good reason."
Finally, Glenn, who stars as Sergeant Chow in AGGA, also celebrated the movie’s success on Instagram.
"We friggin did it!! Broke 1 million in box office sales and became the NUMBER 1 film in Singapore! Here’s to everyone who worked hard on this movie from the cast to the crew.. Haters gonna hate, we gon keep going up up and up (sic),” he wrote in his caption.
