It won’t be a dull and amateurish one for sure. Big names such as acclaimed songwriter Dick Lee and Michael La Fleur are part of the creative team, and the audience can expect an international ensemble — Singapore’s Lim Kay Siu takes the stage with stars from London’s West End.
LightSeeker tells a story about a general who is on a quest to search for a power called The Light for his emperor, which eventually leads him to a girl with the ability to create the power but eventually her presence becomes a threat to his world.
“What is great about it is, what Andrea (Teo, the show’s creator and Executive Producer) gave me is a structure in which all of us in our own way and in our own world, can identify with and respond to. We didn’t just create characters to fill the story, we’re creating characters who represent all of those aspects of the world that we live in,” said director Michael La Fleur, at a recent preview of LightSeeker.
“At every stage, I think at every level you can make decisions on how you choose to live your life. I think that’s basically the message — in fact we all came up with a slogan. It’s called ‘freedom is the power’. Because you have the power to choose, and that’s what real freedom is,” added Teo.
One key thing to look out for would be the set-up — you wouldn’t expect anything less than impressive from Emmy Award winner Patrick Larsen. Here are some fun facts: building the Lightseeker universe set alone took 15,000 man hours and the LED wall features 281 trillion colour variations.
You can expect a colourful musical indeed.
LightSeeker runs from Nov 24 to March 23 at Resorts World Sentosa Theatre. Tickets from S$48 to S$148 from Sistic, RWS ticketing counters and website from Sept 16. For more information, visit www.lightseeker.com.sg.
