SKL0 hits the streets for Movember
SINGAPORE — If you’ve been going around Singapore lately, you might have come across some interesting graffiti-like art at bars, restaurants and barbershops. The works — a series of a man featuring different type of moustaches — were done by Samantha Lo (aka SKL0) and yes, they’re perfectly legal and for a good cause.

SKL0’S works are part of the Movemeber movement — a movement to raise awareness about Men’s health — and recently, I was on a hunt for them.
When I first caught sight of one at Moosehead Kitchen-Bar (or on the wall outside, actually), the first thing that came to my mind was Banksy. It wasn’t hard to spot the similarities between her works and those of the British street artist’s but I thought it blended in quite well, seeing how the eatery is located along the row of rather quaint shop houses.
The works feature various styles of moustaches, from The Trucker to The Rock Star, which are in line with how the movement works — men are encouraged to shave on Nov 1 before growing a moustache (or a ‘mo’) throughout the entire month.
If you are familiar with Lo’s works (which are usually eye-catching and very tongue-in-cheek), it shouldn’t take you too long to recognise them. Panic Room, We Need A Hero and Pistola are some of the places that feature her works, and they’re usually located at the exterior or the interior of the walls, and even the floors – which may not always be easy to spot. Club Street Social had theirs located on the floor outside, and it took me a while to spot it.
Nevertheless, if you’re looking for cool artworks for a good cause in this month of Movember, err, I mean November, keep an eye out for Lo’s works. Who knows, it might inspire all you Mo Bros to grow one yourself.
