SINGAPORE – Looking to celebrate the New Year with new music?
Six acts, including Mt. Spencer, Wan from Oligarchy, Zachary Khoo, JANNE, Skye Soon and Yeow An will be performing at the latest edition of StageFright @ Artistry.
StageFright is a showcase for aspiring musicians to test out their original music before an audience, and has seen performances by up-and-coming Singapore musicians including Stopgap, JAWN, Enec.e, The Little Giant and Joie Tan over the last three years.
“I base my selection on the potential of the artist’s songwriting. It does not have to be perfect but there has to be some promise contained in the songs that makes it worthwhile to put the artist on a stage,” said Kevin Mathews of KAMCO Music, who is also the curator of StageFright.
“From the audience’s perspective, it is the joy of discovery that is the main takeaway from StageFright. New promising artists with interesting new songs to discover. From the musician’s point of view, it is encouraging to come across aspiring artists in the same situation as oneself and hopefully this inspires confidence for the journey ahead.”
StageFright XXII will be held at Artistry Cafe on Jan 13 from 8pm.
