Jeanette Aw off to a good start in Star Awards 2016 online categories

SINGAPORE — If Jeanette Aw wins for the Star Awards’ Favourite Female Character and Favourite Onscreen Couple, she could very well be the last to take home the honours when the online voting categories are discontinued after this year. (She was also the first recipient of the awards back in 2010 and 2011, respectively.)

Based on the results collated yesterday (March 8), the actress is currently in the lead for Favourite Female Character (for her role as Zhao Fei Er in The Dream Makers 2) and Favourite Onscreen Couple (for her pairing with Qi Yuwu in the same drama). If she emerges victorious yet again, it will be her third consecutive win in both categories.

Right now, the second and third positions for Favourite Female Character were also held by other characters from The Dream Makers 2, namely Rui En’s Fang Tong Lin and Huang Biren’s Guan Xie En respectively. Rui En is also currently second and third for Favourite Onscreen Couple — with Shaun Chen in The Journey: Our Homeland and with Qi Yuwu in The Dream Makers 2, respectively.

As for the Favourite Male Character category, 2013 winner Xu Bin’s fans have managed to put him and his character in You Can Be An Angel Too at the top spot, ahead of Romeo Tan (The Journey: Our Homeland) and fellow Noontalk artiste Aloysius Pang (Hand in Hand). However, his promising position remains at the mercy of online voters until April 24.

This year, viewers — or rather, listeners — will also get to decide which drama soundtrack gets to win the award for Best Theme Song. For now, Kit Chan’s Finally, from The Dream Makers 2, is leading, followed by A-do’s Longing To Tell You (Crescendo) and Olivia Ong’s Our Homeland (The Journey: Our Homeland).

The results for the Favourite Characters and Onscreen Couple awards are based purely on online votes, while the results for Best Theme Song are equally determined by online votes and professional judges. TOGGLE.SG
