SINGAPORE - Yes, it’s official. Shane Pow and 987FM deejay and actress Kimberly Wang are dating and have no qualms about everyone knowing about it. They’ve been seeing each other for a couple of months but officially became a pair earlier this August.

Earlier this year, the pair was spotted in town together but told the media “no comment” when quizzed about a published photo of them on 8 DAYS.

Wang explained, “Back then, we were going out and getting to know each other better (…) I’m not the kind of person to hide anything and it’s because of how the topic was broached that I didn’t want to say anything more at the time.”

Echoing her sentiments in a phone interview later in the day, after returning to Singapore from a road trip with his Peace & Prosperity co-stars, Pow let on, “We didn’t go out of our way to hide anything even then. It’s just that we were asked about it by everyone, and everyone always talked about it whenever they saw me.”

The pair started getting closer at the start of the year after working together on the President’s Star Charity last October and have been sighted together on numerous occasions at the old Mediacorp campus. When asked about it then, they flat out denied being anything more than friends, although their recent behavior on social media seemed to hint otherwise.

Wang explained: “One day, out of the blue, he suddenly confessed that he liked me but I never thought of him as more than a friend before that. His friends knew about him liking me but he didn’t say anything to me before that.

“I started developing feelings for her a while back but I didn’t think that much about it at the start,” Pow added. “We were just friends but my feelings for her grew after getting to know each other better and going out together more often. I did prepare myself before confessing (…) but I did worry about getting rejected.”

On their relationship, the 26-year-old actor mused, “There isn’t really a particular reason why we’re together – we’re very comfortable when we’re together and we’re on the same wavelength. I find her a very honest person. I’m not the most meticulous person and she helps me with many things. She’s very empathetic and is a really great girl.”

Even before opening up to the media, the pair has never hidden their relationship. “His friends and mine both know about us, and we’ll definitely agree to taking photos with anyone who sees us on the streets,” Wang shared.

“I remember this girl who took a photo with us and sent me the photo via direct message, telling me not to worry about her posting it on her social media networks because she respected our privacy. It wasn’t necessary but I was really touched by that,” the 25-year-old radio DJ added.

The pair has also been formally introduced to each other’s parents, with Pow admitting, “My mum likes her quite a lot. She’s said that (Kimberly) is a beautiful, good girl.”

Following the dawn of “Powerly” and the double J (Jeremy Chan and Jesseca Liu) romance, will Felicia Chin and Jeffrey Xu be the next celebrity couple to go public?
