SleeQ wins big at APM 2013

SINGAPORE — Regional musicians were lauded at Anugerah Planet Muzik 2013 on Friday night. Now in its 12th year, this year’s edition of APM, which honours the best and the most popular talents in the region’s Malay music industry, saw a triple win for Singapore rap duo, SleeQ.

SINGAPORE — Regional musicians were lauded at Anugerah Planet Muzik 2013 on Friday night. Now in its 12th year, this year’s edition of APM, which honours the best and the most popular talents in the region’s Malay music industry, saw a triple win for Singapore rap duo, SleeQ.

SleeQ was awarded the Best Collaboration gong for the song, Sahabat, which they worked on with Najwa Latif and Syamkamarul. They also won the awards for Social Media Icon and Most Popular Singapore Song, for their performance of Untuk Dia.

Other big winners were Hafiz from Malaysia and Indonesia’s Cakra Khan, both of whom also took home three awards.

Hafiz won for Most Popular Regional Artiste, Best Duo/Group and Most Popular Regional Song, with the latter two for the song, Muara Hati, which he performed with Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza during the show. Cakra Khan nabbed the Best Vocal (New Male Artiste), Best Song (Regional) and Best Song (Indonesia) awards.

This year’s Anugerah Music Special Award went to the legendary rock icons, Black Dog Bone. The five-piece rock band was honoured for four decades of contribution to, and influence on, the regional music scene. Other notable winners that night included Judika (Best Male Artiste), Bunga Citra Lestari (Best Female Artiste) and NOAH (Best Band).

Hosted by Adi Rahman, Dato’ AC Mizal and Sarah Sechan, the event also featured performances from regional artistes, including Singapore’s Art Fazil and Aliff Aziz, legendary Malaysian rocker Amy Search, Brunei’s Jazz Hayat and Indonesia’s Citra Scholastika.
