SINGAPORE — The Pet Expo is back in full swing, with many events and conferences for pet owners and their furry companions.

Dubbed Singapore’s largest “Pet-ducational” fair, it’s more than just a large gathering of pets and pet owners. The educational pet fair is running for the third year this year and “will continue showcase various pet businesses in the market, educational and social activities focused on pets and their well-being”, said Pet Expo project manager, Esther Chin.

This year’s edition, she said, is expected to draw 30,000 visitors and 10,000 pets this year. “First time goers to Pet Expo will be exposed to a myriad of businesses carrying the latest pet products in market. Not only will they see the sales of latest pet products, there are also many great deals in store for them. Visitors can also expect to learn more about pet ownership through seminars and workshops,” said Chin.

One of the main highlights of the Pet Expo 2016 is the all-white pet party, or The White Pawty. A party of pure white pets and their owners will gather to not only compete, but will also receive tips by a groomer and vet on how to take care of their white pets, and on the common health problems these animals tend to be prone to.

The event will also feature other first-time events, such as the Temptation Trail Challenge breed races and dog tricks training workshops for the canines.

It’s not just for the dogs. Our feathered friends will be featured in a bird showcase and performance by Fidz N Fam Bird Club, which will have more than 100 birds at the show (with six will be released indoors during the show). Singapore’s Jurong BirdPark will also be holding a bird care seminar.

But for those who prefer to be in a company of cats, “Cat Daddy” Jackson Galaxy will be in town to hold a seminar. The cat behaviourist, who hosts Animal Planet’s My Cat From Hell, will share the secrets of ‘Catification’ — a term he coined referring to how cat owners create a simulating environment for cats and humans.

Chin said that the Pet Expo isn’t just for pet owners: Everyone can come — even if he or she does not have a pet. In fact, you can even pick up a pet before you head home.

“In partnership with Agri-food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), one may even leave the expo with a furry companion at the end of the day at AVA’s Pawfect Match booth where a speed dating adoption programme will take place,” added Chin.

At this “speed dating” adoption programme, potential owners will have 10 minutes to get up close and personal with their animal “dates”. At least 30 animals —including dogs, cats, and rabbits— will be up for adoption. The AVA and volunteers will be present to answer questions and give to advice to potential pet owners.

The Pet Expo runs until March 27 at Singapore Expo, Hall 7. Tickets at S$4 per day. Free for pets and children below 12 years. For more information, please go to: https://petexposg.com/
