SINGAPORE — Aeroplane and flying enthusiasts have until Sunday to head down to Orchard Road and check out the Heart Of Aviation Gallery, a series of four pop-up exhibitions that shines the spotlight on Singapore’s commercial aviation history.
The gallery, which was opened by Josephine Teo, Senior Minister of State (Finance and Transport), aims to project the dynamism and excitement of Singapore aviation and its careers. It’s part of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore’s (CAAS) year-long public awareness campaign.
The Heart of Aviation Gallery comprises four enclosed — and yes, air-conditioned — zones spread along the pedestrian walkway in front of ION Orchard. Each zone has interactive displays and a different theme. Now Boarding, for example, highlights the key milestones in Singapore’s aviation history and offers a peek into its future. Ready For Takeoff takes visitors behind the scenes to discover what makes Changi Airport a world-class operation and how the aviation community ensures the safety of passengers. In Flight helps visitors understand the crucial role that air-traffic control plays in providing a safe and pleasant flight experience. Finally, Air Cargo offers visitors interesting insights into the air cargo sector and its role in our daily lives.
You can also find out how aviation has contributed to Singapore’s growth over the past 50 years and get to know committed professionals, both pioneers and professionals today, who contribute to the vibrant Singapore aviation hub. Another CAAS initiative, the Aviation Open House, which will showcase education, career and job opportunities in aviation, will be set up from Aug 13 to 15 at the Suntec City Convention Centre.
The Heart of Aviation Gallery at Orchard Road will be open today and tomorrow, from 11am to 9pm.
