2 Haagen-Dazs products recalled due to presence of pesticide; second recall involving ice-cream brand in a month

Haagen-Dazs' Belgian Chocolate ice-cream (100ml), which expires on June 8, 2023 as well as its Cookies & Cream ice-cream (473ml), which expires on May 27, 2023, have been recalled by the Singapore Food Agency.

Haagen-Dazs' Belgian Chocolate ice-cream (100ml), which expires on June 8, 2023 as well as its Cookies & Cream ice-cream (473ml), which expires on May 27, 2023, have been recalled by the Singapore Food Agency.

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) on Friday (Aug 5) ordered the recall of two products from popular ice-cream brand Haagen-Dazs.
This is due to the presence of ethylene oxide, a type of pesticide not authorised for use in food.
SFA said that the two products are the brand’s Belgian Chocolate ice-cream (100ml) and its Cookies & Cream ice-cream (473ml).
“Although there is no immediate risk to consumption of food contaminated with low levels of ethylene oxide, long-term exposure may lead to health issues,” SFA warned.
It said that consumers who have bought the products are advised not to eat them.
