Le Le, the first giant panda cub born in Singapore, made its maiden public appearance on Thursday (Dec 30).

The public's excitement was reflected in the snaking queues outside the giant panda forest exhibition as hundreds lined up to catch a glimpse of Le Le.

Most visitors who spoke to TODAY, however, did not make a special trip to the River Wonders park just to see Le Le. They already made plans to visit the park and it was a stroke of luck that Le Le was going to be unveiled on Thursday.

The visitors said that they had to queue for between 30 minutes and an hour, but they did not mind the long wait.

Ms Athena Tang, who works in the workplace safety and health industry, said: "We didn't see the full version; we just saw the butt, but it is definitely cute. He has a cute butt!"

Another visitor, university student Sharlene Tan, said: "I think it's worth it. But only one time. I won't queue again."
