Long waits at counters as some Singaporeans rush to redeem SingapoRediscovers Vouchers by Dec 31 deadline
Nearly 30 people were seen waiting to redeem their SingapoRediscovers Vouchers at the Marine Parade Community Club at about 1.30pm on Dec 31, 2021.
Some Singaporeans rushed to redeem their SingapoRediscovers Vouchers on Friday (Dec 31), the last day of redemptions.
In November, the Government extended the validity period for the vouchers from the end of December to March 31 next year, provided that the vouchers are redeemed by Dec 31.
The dash to make bookings on the last day of redemptions meant a long wait for some who wanted to do it at a counter, instead of online. At one point, TODAY saw a queue of almost 30 people at the Marine Parade Community Club.
Three of the authorised booking platforms also said they had seen an increase in voucher redemptions recently, with one recording a more than 200 per cent spike in voucher-related bookings in the past fortnight.
With the increase in bookings in December, the Singapore Tourism Board expects more than 1.6 million Singaporeans to have used their vouchers at least once by Dec 31.
