Manpower Minister Tan See Leng said that during the Delta wave of infections in Singapore, the number of migrant workers hospitalised was “very, very low”.

Manpower Minister Tan See Leng, speaking ahead of International Migrants Day on Saturday (Dec 18), said that the Government is monitoring the Omicron variant situation "very closely" before it further relaxes Covid-19 restrictions for migrant workers in dormitories.

Dr Tan said if it is found that most of those infected with the variant are asymptomatic, or have mild infections, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will not have to impose tighter restrictions.

Currently, the vaccination rate of migrant workers is about 98 per cent with very few migrant workers hospitalised during the Delta wave of infections in Singapore.

Over the next three years, the MOM will focus on raising dormitory standards and, enhance the healthcare support and social well-being of workers.

Existing dormitories will be upgraded and new, innovative ideas for dormitory living and management will be tested out.
