S'pore won't be badly hit by disruptions to shipping routes around Taiwan unless China-US tensions worsen: Experts
Shipping and semiconductor industry players told TODAY that China's military drills in Taiwan will have little impact on Singapore.
The military drills have effectively created a blockade in the Taiwan Strait, one of the world's busiest shipping routes.
The strait is also crucial for the world’s trade of liquefied natural gas — an energy source to generate electricity.
Despite that, industry observers said this is a minor inconvenience with small delays expected.
Experts also said that they are keeping an eye on the situation as Singapore could be greatly impacted should tensions escalate.
