WP MPs differ in debate on Section 377A repeal, after Pritam Singh lifts party whip on 'matter of deep religious belief, conscience'

Workers' Party chief Pritam Singh allowed MPs from his party to express their differing views on the repeal of Section 377A of the Penal Code

Mr Singh did this by lifting the party whip, which usually ensures members of a given party vote in line with the party's position

He said that if the party had openly supported the repeal of S377A, this would not have helped Singapore politics or the LGBTQ+ community

Some MPs from the party supported the repeal while others did not
