KUALA LUMPUR — Rosmah Mansor, the wife of former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak, was questioned by the Malaysian police on Friday (Oct 26) over alleged misappropriation of funds from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Clad in a floral-print white baju kurung with a matching headscarf, she arrived at the Commercial Crime Investigation Department at 9.45am.

She was accompanied by her lawyer K Kumaraendran and her two sons, Mohd Norashman Najib and Riza Aziz, in two cars – a Perdana and BMW.

They left some three hours later without speaking to the media.

Sources close to Rosmah said she is not required to return on Friday for further questioning.

She was initially scheduled to give her statement on Thursday, but this was delayed a day later.

Besides Rosmah, her sons also gave their statements to the Anti-Money Laundering Crime investigation team.

“Investigators will question her further on various issues relating to 1MDB, including the items seized from premises linked to her husband (Najib)," a police source told The Star Online earlier.

“It is part on the division’s investigation on various aspects linked to the sovereign fund.”

In May, several premises linked to Najib were raided by police in their probe into troubled state investment firm 1MDB.

Among the items seized were cash in various currencies, jewellery, handbags and documents.

Rosmah is already facing 17 counts of money laundering after being accused of handling funds of about RM7.1 million (S$2.35 million) from unlawful activities, and failing to declare the amount for tax purposes.

However, it is unclear if those charges are related to 1MDB. AGENCIES
