This round’s on ... Rita Ora

SINGAPORE — Thanks to her signature husky voice and R&B sound, British R&B star Rita Ora caught the attention of hip hip mogul Jay-Z’s, who quickly signed her to his record label Roc Nation, sitting alongside other big names like Rihanna and Drake. She released her debut self-titled album only last year, but she quickly achieved great success: The album topped the British charts, as did her singles, How We Do (Party) and R.I.P., and her collaboration with DJ Fresh, Hot Right Now.

Critics have hailed Ora as the next big thing and it looks like she’s well on her way to becoming a major star. She’s also heading to the region to perform at the Future Music Festival in Kuala Lumpur that happens on March 15 and 16. And the 22-year-old said she is excited about coming over to these parts.

“I love performing at festivals. There are always other amazing artistes to watch and it’s a fun time for everyone,” Ora said, adding that this is the first time she experiences a festival outside of the United Kingdom, and she just wants to enjoy herself with the crowd. FARAH DALEY
