SINGAPORE — Ten food and beverage (F&B) establishments were ordered to close while 72 individuals and another F&B outlet were fined for breaching Covid-19 rules in the past week, the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) said.
The action followed up stepped up enforcement checks by government agencies, which would continue in the year-end period, MSE said in a press statement issued on Thursday (Dec 30).
The outlets and individuals were penalised for breaching both safe management measures (SMMs) and vaccination differentiated SMMs.
Breaches by the 10 F&B outlets ordered to close included failing to minimise interaction between staff and diners, failing to ensure groups of diners did not exceed the maximum group size and allowing diners to consume alcohol after 10.30pm.
The F&B that was fined failed to ensure a safe distance of at least 1m between patrons.
The 72 individuals had been fined for breaches such as gathering in groups larger than the permitted size and mask-related offences.
In the statement, MSE warned that breaches would not be tolerated.
"Strict compliance with SMMs is critical for everyone’s safety. During the year-end festive period, agencies will continue stepped-up checks on F&B outlets to ensure that SMMs are strictly adhered to," it said.
