11 Singaporeans, including a 56-year-old, die of Covid-19 complications; death toll reaches 153

SINGAPORE — Eleven more people have died from complications due to Covid-19, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Saturday (Oct 9).

Five of them were men and the other six were women.

All Singaporeans, they were aged between 56 and 90, MOH said in its daily update on the coronavirus situation here.

Four of them had been vaccinated against Covid-19, three were partially vaccinated and the remaining four were not.

“Ten of them had various underlying medical conditions, while a partially vaccinated case had no known medical conditions,” MOH said, without indicating when they were infected with Covid-19 or died.

The 56-year-old case had been partially vaccinated against Covid-19, and had multiple underlying medical conditions, the ministry added.

In total, 153 people here have died from complications after contracting the coronavirus, including 52 this month.

MOH on Saturday reported a record 3,703 new cases of infection, with 2,868 in the community and 832 in migrant worker dormitories. There were three imported infections for the day.

This brought Singapore’s total number of coronavirus cases logged since the start of the pandemic last year to 124,157.
