SINGAPORE — About 180 residents of a condominium block in Buangkok evacuated their homes in the early morning on the second day of Chinese New Year after a fire broke out in one of the units.
In a Facebook post on Sunday (Jan 26), the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it had responded to a fire at No 5 Buangkok Green at about 5.50am. It is the address of the Hougang Green condominium.
The fire, which involved the contents of a bedroom, was extinguished by the SCDF with one water jet.
Two persons were assessed by SCDF paramedics for superficial burns and difficulty breathing, but refused to be taken to the hospital.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the fire was of electrical origin from an e-bike battery which was charging at the time of the fire,” said the SCDF.
