191 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore, including two from cluster at Tampines block

SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Friday (July 10) confirmed 191 new cases of Covid-19, including 16 new community cases and one imported case.

SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Friday (July 10) confirmed 191 new cases of Covid-19, including 16 new community cases and one imported case.

Among the new 16 community cases are two family members of a known cluster at Block 111 on Tampines Street 11 who were already quarantined. They are an 18-year-old boy and a seven-year-old girl.

Nine people from two separate households from the block were earlier found to be infected with the coronavirus.

MOH said on Friday that so far, there is no evidence of spread beyond the two infected households and it will continue to closely monitor the situation.

The 16 community cases include seven Singaporeans, five work pass holders and four work permit holders.

Eight of the 16 had already been placed on quarantine earlier. Ten of the 16 cases are asymptomatic and they were detected through proactive testing.

The source of infection is not known yet for half of these new community cases, while the other half are linked to previous cases or clusters. They were identified as contacts of earlier confirmed cases were tested during their quarantine.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has gone up, from an average of nine cases a day in the week before, to an average of 16 a day in the past week, the ministry said.

The number of community cases with no known links has also increased, from an average of five a day in the week before, to an average of nine daily in the past week.

UPDATES ON REST OF THE CASES

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore now stands at 45,613.

Of these, 41,780 people have fully recovered from Covid-19 and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including the 348 on Saturday.

There are still 203 patients in hospitals. Of these, most are stable or improving, and one is in critical condition under intensive care.

MOH said that 3,604 patients are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.

Twenty-six people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
