2 arrested for hacking of Istana website

SINGAPORE — The police said today (Nov 28) that they have arrested two Singaporean men for the alleged hacking of the Istana website.

The 42-year-old businessman and 17-year-old Institute of Technical Education (ITE) student, who were not named in the police statement, were arrested today and will be charged in court tomorrow.

The pair were arrested following a police report lodged on Nov 8 by the administrator of the Istana website.

On Nov 14, TODAY reported that Melvin Teo, 17, and Delson Moo, 42, were questioned over the alleged hacking of the website.

The two suspects will be charged tomorrow for the unauthorised modification of computer material under Section 5(1) of the Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity Act, Chapter 50(A) which carries a punishment of up to S$10,000 or a jail term of up to three years, or both, the police said.
