20-year-old suspected trafficker, 16-year-old girl among 98 people nabbed in CNB drug bust

SINGAPORE — A 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl were among 98 people arrested by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) in a four-day islandwide operation.

SINGAPORE — A 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl were among 98 people arrested by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) in a four-day islandwide operation.

The Singaporean man – suspected to be a drug trafficker – was arrested in the vicinity of Upper Thomson Road on Sept 13. He then led the authorities to his rented condominium unit in the area, where the Singaporean girl and a 22-year-old Malaysian man were in.

“(The) two other suspects within the unit refused to heed the lawful orders of the officers and forced entry was effected,” said the CNB in a press release on Friday (Sept 14).

They were subsequently arrested.

A total of 48g of ice, 22 Erimin-5 tablets, seven ecstasy tablets, as well as three digital weighing scales and several improvised drug-smoking apparatuses were seized from the apartment, said the CNB.

The operation, from Sept 10 to the morning of Sept 14 was supported by the Singapore Police Force and covered areas in Ang Mo Kio, Balestier, Geylang, Hougang, Joo Chiat, Pasir Ris, Tampines, Toa Payoh, Woodlands and Yishun.

In total, the CNB seizure about 166g of ice, 128g of cannabis, 82g of heroin, 22 Erimin-5 tablets and 11 ecstasy tablets.

Investigations into the drug activities of all the arrested persons are ongoing.
