22-year-old man arrested while attempting to swim into Singapore

SINGAPORE — A 22-year-old man has been arrested for unlawful entry into Singapore after he was caught swimming from Malaysia to Singapore in the early hours of Monday morning (May 2).

SINGAPORE — A 22-year-old man has been arrested for unlawful entry into Singapore after he was caught swimming from Malaysia to Singapore in the early hours of Monday morning (May 2).

The Police Coast Guard first detected the man at about 12.46am in the Straits of Johor, near the Lim Chu Kang area. Both land and sea resources were immediately deployed to intercept the swimmer and he was apprehended around 10 minutes later.

Commander of the Police Coast Guard, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Hsu Sin Yun said” “I wish to commend my officers for their vigilance and swift action resulting in this successful arrest. PCG will spare no efforts to keep out intruders and ensure the safety and security of Singapore waters”.
