26th Covid-19 death in Singapore: 73-year-old dies 3 months after testing positive
SINGAPORE — A 73-year-old Singaporean has become the 26th person here to die from complications due to Covid-19.
SINGAPORE — A 73-year-old Singaporean has become the 26th person here to die from complications due to Covid-19.
The man — identified as Case 161 — died on Friday (June 12), three months after he tested positive for the coronavirus on March 9.
He had a history of hypertension, hyperlipidaemia and chronic kidney disease, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) in a statement on Saturday.
The National Centre for Infectious Diseases has reached out to his family and is extending assistance to them.
Earlier on Saturday, MOH announced an additional 347 Covid-19 cases, with five cases coming from the community.
There are now 40,197 confirmed cases here.
In all, 28,808 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 768 on Saturday.
There are still 228 patients in hospitals. Of these, most are in stable condition or improving, and one is in critical condition under intensive care.
MOH said that 11,135 patients are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19.
