The Singaporean woman’s identity was removed in court documents provided by the police.
She was charged via video conference while at a medical facility at Changi Prison, a State Courts representative said in response to TODAY’s queries.
The woman is remanded for psychiatric observation at the Changi Prison Complex and is set to return to court on Sept 2.
The documents stated that the alleged murder happened “sometime before 11.38am” on Tuesday at Lorong 31 Geylang, but gave no other details.
In a media statement on Tuesday, the police said that they were alerted to an incident in a residential unit along Lorong 31 Geylang at about 11.40am.
The girl was found lying motionless with multiple wounds.
She was unconscious when she was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead at 12.45pm.
The police said then that they will seek a court order to remand the mother for psychiatric assessment.
If convicted of murder, the woman faces the death penalty.
