SINGAPORE — The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) deployed 40 firefighters and 14 emergency vehicles to battle a raging fire that engulfed a storage warehouse at Kim Chuan Drive on Monday (Nov 18).
The fire involved kitchenware and other household materials on the warehouse’s rooftop, SCDF said in a statement on Facebook.
SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at 29 Kim Chuan Drive at 11.35am on Monday.
When firefighters arrived at the premises, the blaze was “raging at the rooftop and was threatening to spread”, it added.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus sets proceeded up the narrow and debris-filled stairway to conduct offensive firefighting,” SCDF said.
At the height of the operations, three water jets were used to bring the fire under control.
Four occupants were evacuated from the premises before SCDF’s arrival.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
