60-year-old ambulance driver dies after crashing into tree along Sengkang East Road
SINGAPORE — A 60-year-old driver died after the ambulance he was driving crashed into a tree along Sengkang East Road on Thursday (Oct 20) morning.

SINGAPORE — A 60-year-old driver died after the ambulance he was driving crashed into a tree along Sengkang East Road on Thursday (Oct 20) morning.
In a statement on Friday, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to a road traffic accident at the junction of Sengkang East Road and Sengkang East Avenue at around 8.20am on Thursday.
The accident involved a private ambulance, which is believed to have skidded along Sengkang East Road towards Buangkok Green, said the police separately on Friday.
SCDF said they found a person trapped in the driver's seat of the crashed ambulance and rescued him using hydraulic rescue equipment.
The driver was taken unconscious to Sengkang General Hospital where he subsequently died, added the authorities.
Police investigations are ongoing.
A video posted online on Thursday evening of the accident scene showed the blue-and-white Comfort ambulance facing oncoming traffic beside a tree.
The front of the ambulance appears to be badly damaged with its front doors hanging open.
The video also showed several police vehicles near the site of the crash.
