SINGAPORE — Singapore has confirmed seven new cases of Covid-19, including five imported cases, one in the community, and another residing in a foreign worker dormitory.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Saturday (Oct 10) that five of the new cases have no symptoms, while two are symptomatic.

The community case is a 41-year-old permanent resident, who is a family member of previously confirmed cases. He had been placed on home quarantine earlier, and had not left his place of residence since. He developed symptoms during quarantine and tested positive for Covid-19.

The five imported cases comprise a Singaporean, a permanent resident, two special pass holders, and one work pass holder.

The two special pass holders are both Filipino sea crew who arrived in Singapore to board a ship docked here. The two men, aged 47 and 49, were conveyed directly from the airport to the ship in a dedicated vehicle upon arrival in Singapore, and had not left the ship after.

The three remaining imported cases had travel history to Belarus, Qatar and France.

They had been placed on 14-day stay-home notices and tested positive while serving their notices.

Overall, MOH said that the number of new cases in the community has remained stable at an average of one case a day in the past two weeks.

The number of cases with no known links in the community has also remained stable at an average of fewer than one a day in the past two weeks.

The case residing in a dormitory was detected through the MOH’s bi-weekly Rostered Routine Testing of workers living in dormitories.

UPDATES ON REMAINING CASES

The total number of infections in Singapore now stands at 57,866.

Of these, 57,698 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 23 on Saturday.

There are still 40 patients in hospitals and most are in stable condition or improving, except for one, who is in critical condition in intensive care.

Another 101 patients are isolated and being cared for at community facilities. They have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.

Twenty-seven people have died from complications due to Covid-19.
