SINGAPORE — Six men and one woman will be charged in court on Tuesday (June 2) after having been found gathering at Robertson Quay earlier this month, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) said on Saturday.
The seven, aged between 30 and 52, will be charged for contravening the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020.
Photos of people having gatherings outside various bars and restaurants at Robertson Quay went viral on May 16, sparking investigations by the URA and the police.
On May 17, URA issued directions to about 10 Robertson Quay restaurants to cease the sale of take-away alcohol with immediate effect, as the take-away sales had contributed to more individuals gathering in the area.
“We urge both the public and business operators to continue to play their part in adhering to the safe distancing measures that have been put in place,” the URA said on Saturday.
