SINGAPORE — Eighty firefighters and 17 emergency vehicles were deployed to put out a blaze at a Tuas waste recycling workshop on Monday (July 4).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to a fire at 10 Tuas View Square at about 12.25pm.

The fire, which involved waste paper and electronic products, was confined to the third floor of the workshop, said SCDF in a Facebook post.

"At the height of the firefighting operation, a total of four water jets were used to contain and prevent the fire from spreading," it added.

"The firefighters then moved carefully into the building to extinguish the fire on the affected floor."

Nine people were evacuated before firefighters arrived, said SCDF, adding that there were no reported injuries.

The fire was extinguished within one-and-a-half hours.

SCDF said the cause of the fire is under investigation. CNA
