SINGAPORE — The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) on Friday (Jan 21) said that about 1.9 million Singaporeans have used their SingapoRediscovers Vouchers at least once, amounting close to S$300 million in transactions as of Dec 31 last year.

This sum comprised nearly S$180 million in vouchers and about S$120 million in out-of-pocket payments. This did not include the amount that Singaporeans spent on site when they visited tourism attractions and related venues, STB said in a media release.

In all, about 2.96 million people have been given the vouchers.

The Government announced in August 2020 that each adult Singapore citizen will receive S$100 worth of vouchers to be used for attractions and tours here, with the aim of boosting domestic tourism during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The vouchers could be used from Dec 1, 2020 to the end of June 2021. The redemption deadline was then extended last April to Dec 31.

In November last year, the Government extended the validity period for the vouchers from the end of this month to March 31 — provided the vouchers were redeemed when bookings were made by Dec 31.

This resulted in a surge in bookings ahead of the Dec 31 redemption deadline, with about 500,000 Singaporeans using their vouchers in December alone.

STB said in an earlier response to TODAY that about 1.4 million Singaporeans have used their vouchers at least once as of Dec 1 last year, making more than 1.8 million transactions.

In its latest update, it said that 2.6 million transactions have been made using the vouchers in all.

“We thank Singaporeans for supporting our local tourism businesses and we hope that they will continue to explore and rediscover Singapore in 2022,” STB said.
