SINGAPORE — An overly-suspicious man was sentenced today (April 23) to 12 months’ jail for abusing his two former girlfriends.

SINGAPORE — An overly-suspicious man was sentenced today (April 23) to 12 months’ jail for abusing his two former girlfriends.

Delivery driver Mohamad Affindi Mohd Ali, 37, had repeatedly slapped, punched and kicked his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend in November 2011.

He suspected she was having an affair with her male colleague and during the argument, he also whipped the victim’s back with a belt.

The abuse left the woman with multiple bruises and a rib fracture.

In September last year, Mohamad Affindi accused his then-girlfriend of cheating on him.

He pushed the 28-year-old to the floor at the carpark of Pasir Ris Park and swung a kick to her abdomen. The two made up later and left the park, but the assault continued regularly for more than a week.

Mohamad Affindi, a divorcee with three children, was also convicted of intending to insult the modesty of his colleague by using his mobile phone to take an upskirt video between 2009 and 2010.

The prosecution proceeded on three of seven charges.

In sentencing, District Judge Shawn Ho pointed out that although all the victims were different, they were all women.

Describing Mohamad Affindi’s actions as “appalling”, the judge said the accused had “a total lack of respect for women”. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
