SINGAPORE — An accident involving a car and four motorcycles caused an hours-long jam on the Central Expressway (CTE) on Friday morning (May 6).
Police were first alerted to the accident near the Braddell Road exit, heading towards the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE), at 8.23am. At 11.51am, there was still congestion up to Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) tweeted. And at 12.19pm, two lanes were still closed.
Facebook user Azfar Hashim, posting on the JB Traffic, Road Block & Potholes Report group at 9.59am, said that the jam had stretched all the way to Lentor Avenue at the time.
“Avoid the CTE (towards City) at all cost!” he posted.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that six people were involved in the accident. Two motorcyclists — a man in his 20s, and a woman in her 30s — were conveyed conscious to Tan Tock Seng hospital. Three other motorists suffered minor injuries and declined going to the hospital. The other motorist was not injured, said the SCDF.
Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
