AVS seizes 19 dogs, including corgis, from illegal dog breeder
SINGAPORE — Nineteen dogs have been seized by the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS) from an illegal dog breeder who was operating out of a residential premises following a tip-off from a member of the public.

SINGAPORE — Nineteen dogs have been seized by the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS) from an illegal dog breeder who was operating out of a residential premises, following a tip-off from a member of the public.
The 19 dogs seized from a woman and her husband on Feb 9 included adult corgis, corgi puppies and an adult shiba inu.
The dogs are now under the care of AVS in the Animal Management Centre and the couple are assisting AVS with investigations.
Those convicted of keeping animals in captivity for sale without license can be fined up to S$5,000, and or jailed up to six months under the Animals and Birds Act.
Those found guilty of using premises as a farm without license can be fined up to S$10,000 and or jailed up to one year.
AVS advised prospective pet owners not to purchase their pets from unknown sources and instead adopt pets from animal welfare groups or purchase them from licensed pet shops.
