SINGAPORE — Police officers on Friday (April 8) took two men, suspected of injuring two other men with dangerous weapons, to the site of an alleged attack in Boon Lay.

The two men, aged 20 and 21, were taken to locations within the neighbourhood of Block 175 Boon Lay Drive, including an open-air car park in front of blocks 176 and 177, the area in front of a barbershop on the first level of Block 175 and a playground behind Block 176.

The suspects, who were arrested on Thursday evening after a manhunt, arrived at the scene in an unmarked grey van with police investigators at about 4.20pm on Friday.

Early investigations revealed that the two men are known to the victims, aged 22 and 23, who were taken conscious to the hospital.

In a statement on Friday, the police said that the two suspects allegedly used bread knives to attack the victims on Wednesday. They were believed to have thrown away the weapons before the police arrived at the scene.

The victims were said to have suffered several cuts to their heads and limbs.

The two men will be charged on Saturday with voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons with common intention.

Mr Emmanuel Ravi, a resident there, told TODAY that he knew the victims and one of the suspects.

The two victims were his friends who were on their way to his home after Mr Emmanuel’s temple wedding ceremony when they were allegedly assaulted.

Mr Emmanuel, his wife and his mother as well as several of his friends were present at the foot of Block 175 at about 3.15pm on Friday.

He said that he had just returned from visiting the victims at the hospital and had heard from the media that the suspects would be at the crime scene.

He also said that one of the victims was discharged from hospital this morning and the other was moved out of the intensive-care ward to a regular ward.

When TODAY arrived at the scene on Friday at 3.15pm, the police had just begun cordoning off the area, which encircled the car park surrounding blocks 175, 176 and 177.

The first suspect, aged 20, was led out of the van at about 4.20pm.

Wearing a white long-sleeved T-shirt and blue shorts, he was accompanied by five plainclothes police officers.

The suspect's hands and ankles were restrained.

He was then taken to various spots in the vicinity for the next 20 minutes.

He bowed his head most of the time as bystanders looked on, first taken to the parking lot in front of Block 176 where he was seen responding to questions from an officer.

Then he was led to a parking lot for the disabled in front of Block 175 and to the barbershop at the foot of the same block, where he was again seen answering questions from the officers.

From there, they went through Block 176, to the playground behind the block and a pathway between blocks 178 and 179.

The suspect was taken back to the van at about 4.40pm.

The second suspect, who was dressed in a white, short-sleeved T-shirt and blue shorts, was also restrained at his arms and ankles.

The 21-year old was led to the same spots and had to answer questions as well from the officers.

At one point, a passer-by heckled him, saying: “Hey, machan (brother-in-law in Tamil), how are you? Okay?"

The passerby was escorted away quickly by a police officer.

The suspect returned to the van at 4.55pm before the police drove off.
