Bukit Batok by-election expenses returns up for inspection from Wednesday

SINGAPORE – The returns of expenses that were submitted by election agents of Bukit Batok by-election candidates Dr Chee Soon Juan and Mr Murali Pillai will be available for inspection at the Elections Department (ELD) for six months, starting Wednesday (June 15).

SINGAPORE – The returns of expenses that were submitted by election agents of Bukit Batok by-election candidates Dr Chee Soon Juan and Mr Murali Pillai will be available for inspection at the Elections Department (ELD) for six months, starting Wednesday (June 15).

Between 9am to 5pm on weekdays, members of the public can inspect the candidate returns and will have to pay S$2 for each set.

For the by-election, a maximum spending limit of S$4 was set for every voter on the register of electors for the electoral division the candidate is seeking election to be a Member of Parliament. Within 31 days after the day on which the result of the election is published in the Gazette, the election agents of all electoral candidates are required to submit a declaration and return of election expenses to the Returning Officer, according to the Parliamentary Elections Act.

To minimise waiting time, the Elections Department request that members of public who which to inspect the documents to inform the department at least one working day in advance through email (contact [at] eld.gov.sg) or phone 1800-225-5353 (1800-CALL-ELD).
