Bus, train fares to increase by 10 to 11 cents from Dec 23 amid rising energy prices, inflation

The Public Transport Council has allowed a 7 per cent increase in bus and train fares from Dec 23

This will result in a 10 to 11 cent hike in adult fares, while concessionary fares will increase by four to five cents

The council said that the maximum amount of increase allowed by their updated formula would have been 22.6 per cent

The Government will be giving another subsidy of S$300 million to cover the costs of deferring a 15.6 per cent increase to future fare review exercises
