COE premiums close mostly higher

Premiums for small cars (up to 1,600cc and 97kW) fell S$65,001, down from S$66,010 in the previous exercise. Premiums for big cars (above 1,600cc and 97kW) closed higher at $76,889, up from S$75,289.
COE premiums for commercial vehicles, which include goods vehicles and buses, rose slightly to S$55,012 from S$55,011.
Premiums rose 11 per cent — the sharpest in this bidding exercise — for motorcycles. It jumped from S$4,403 to $4,889.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) received a total of 3,170 bids at the end of the January second open bidding exercise, with a quota of 2,051 COEs available. Of these bids, 2,024 were successful.
