Compass One to reopen in September after 11-month facelift

SINGAPORE — More educational facilities, larger common areas and a children’s wet and dry playground will be among the features of former Compass Point mall, now renamed Compass One, when it reopens in September.

Ninety-five per cent of retail space has been leased and the renovated shopping centre will also have a bigger Sengkang Public Library that will occupy two levels.

The mall in Sengkang closed in October last year for major renovation works.

Compass One centre general manager Sharon Tan said: “The re-opening is going to be an exciting experience for shoppers who will enjoy improved family-friendly space with better access for the elderly and physically challenged, and increased education facilities.”

Tenants started moving in last month, and there will be 50 new retailers including IT store Challenger, coffee chain Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and eateries Royal London Duck and Paradise Hotpot. Mavis Tutorial Centre and Stalford Learning Centre will join the fold of education services on offer at Compass One.

Long-time tenants such as Popular, Royal Sporting House, Poh Heng, Starbucks, Pizza Hut and Popular will all return along with anchor tenants Cold Storage supermarket and Kopitiam food court.

The mall was previously renamed 1 Sengkang Mall after a vote on social media. The new name drew criticism from the public, and it was subsequently renamed Compass One by M&G Real Estate which took full ownership of the mall in February.
