SINGAPORE — All residents in two public housing blocks in Chua Chu Kang and Jurong will have to be tested for Covid-19 after 11 cases were detected among them.

In a statement on Thursday (July 29), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that it was investigating likely coronavirus transmission at Block 3 Teck Whye Avenue and Block 357 Yung An Road.

So far, seven cases have been detected in four households at Block 3 Teck Whye Avenue.

Another four infected people were found in three households at Block 357 Yung An Road.

“Epidemiological investigations are ongoing to determine linkages and the source of transmission,” MOH said.

Testing is optional for those who have tested negative for the disease from July 25 onwards, it added.

MOH’s announcement came a day after compulsory swab tests were imposed for residents of three public housing blocks in Ang Mo Kio and Clementi, after 23 cases were detected among them.

TESTING DETAILS

Mandatory testing for residents of the two housing blocks will be held on Friday between 9am and 4pm.

For residents living at Block 3 Teck Whye Avenue, the testing venue will be at the void deck of Block 1 Teck Whye Avenue.

Those living at Block 357 Yung An Road will have to head to the pavilion between blocks 357 and 359 Yung An Road to get tested.

Text message notification by phone and leaflets with more details have been sent to the affected residents, MOH said.

All residents will have to take along their identity cards and are reminded to keep to their appointment time, it added.

The ministry advised residents to monitor their health closely and see a doctor immediately if they are unwell.

They should also minimise social interactions as far as possible while waiting for their test results.
