Covid-19: 106 more infections in Singapore, S11 Dormitory cluster grows to 98 cases

SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Tuesday (April 7) announced that there were 106 new cases of Covid-19.

SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Tuesday (April 7) announced that there were 106 new cases of Covid-19.

Of these, 39 cases were linked to clusters of infections at foreign worker dormitories and 23 were linked to non-dormitory clusters. Three of the new cases were imported, while 41 other cases have no known links yet.

The latest cases bring the total number of confirmed Covid-19 infections here to 1,481.

MOH said that a total of 377 cases out of 1,481 have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities, including the 33 that were discharged on Tuesday.

Of the 627 confirmed cases who are still in hospital, most are in stable condition or improving. Twenty-nine patients are in critical condition under intensive care.

There are 471 cases who are “clinically well” but still test positive for Covid-19 and they are isolated and cared for at Concord International Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital, Mount Alvernia Hospital and the Community Isolation Facility at D’Resort NTUC.

Six people have died from complications due to the disease.

PATIENTS FROM THE PUBLIC HEALTHCARE SECTOR

MOH said that two of the latest cases — identified as Cases 1376 and 1385 — were from the public healthcare sector.

Case 1376

She is a 35-year-old Singaporean with no recent travel history to affected countries or regions. She reported onset of symptoms on April 5 and tested positive the next day. She is warded in an isolation room at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH).

She is employed as a nurse at the same hospital. Before she was warded, she had gone to work for a few hours on April 5.

Case 1385

She is a 61-year-old Singaporean with no recent travel history to affected countries or regions. She reported onset of symptoms on April 1 and was diagnosed to have Covid-19 on April 6. She is warded in an isolation room at the Singapore General Hospital.

She is employed as a healthcare assistant at Hougang Polyclinic, but had not gone to work since she developed symptoms.

LINKS BETWEEN PREVIOUS CASES FOUND

MOH said that further epidemiological investigations and contact tracing have uncovered links between previously announced and new cases.

  • Ten more cases are now linked to the cluster at S11 Dormitory @ Punggol (2 Seletar North Link), which has a total of 98 confirmed cases.

  • Five more cases are now linked to the cluster at Westlite Toh Guan dormitory near Jurong East (18 Toh Guan Road East), which has a total of 34 confirmed cases.

  • Four more cases are linked to the cluster at Toh Guan Dormitory (19A Toh Guan Road East), which has a total of 18 confirmed cases (Cases 963, 1079, 1106, 1148, 1150, 1195, 1254, 1273, 1262, 1263, 1271, 1274, 1276, 1347, 1395, 1453, 1469 and 1475).

  • Twelve more cases are linked to the cluster at Sungei Tengah Lodge (500 Old Choa Chu Kang Road), which now has a total of 18 confirmed cases (Cases 1054, 1077, 1124, 1267, 1306, 1319, 1342, 1362, 1367, 1388, 1396, 1411, 1430, 1438, 1459, 1474, 1476 and 1481).

  • Eight more cases are linked to the cluster at Tampines Dormitory (2 Tampines Place), which now has a total of 17 cases (Cases 1049, 1140 , 1193, 1226, 1299, 1261, 1313, 1314, 1327, 1373, 1410,1440, 1442, 1454, 1457, 1458 and 1479).

  • Five more cases are linked to the cluster at workers' dormitory Cochrane Lodge I in Sembawang (51 Admiralty Road West), which now has a total of seven cases now (Cases 1018, 1144, 1394, 1406, 1418, 1419 and 1437).

  • One more case is linked to the cluster at Cochrane Lodge II (49 Admiralty Road West), which now has a total of five cases (Cases 956, 967, 1104, 1240 and 1349).

  • Three more cases are linked to the cluster at a construction site at 50 Market Street in the Central Business District, which now has a total of 21 confirmed cases (Cases 956, 967, 1019, 1078, 1079, 1104, 1120, 1124, 1149, 1162, 1181, 1191, 1226, 1271, 1273, 1341, 1346, 1349, 1421, 1448 and 1449).

  • Seven more cases are linked to the cluster at Mustafa Centre in Little India (145 Syed Alwi Road), which now has a total of 45 confirmed cases.

  • Three more cases are linked to the cluster at Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home (1 Thomson Lane), which now has a total of 16 cases (Cases 918, 973, 976, 983, 984, 985, 986, 987, 988, 989, 990, 1004, 1055, 1412, 1413 and 1414).

MOH said that contact tracing is underway for cases with no known links to see if they are connected to previous cases or people with travel history to affected countries or regions.
