SINGAPORE — Pregnant women younger than 35 years old and less than 26 weeks pregnant will now be able to recover from home if they have been infected with Covid-19, said the Ministry of Health on Saturday (Oct 23).

SINGAPORE — Pregnant women younger than 35 years old and less than 26 weeks pregnant will now be able to recover from home if they have been infected with Covid-19, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Saturday (Oct 23).

However, they have to be clinically assessed at hospitals first before they can start recovering from home.

The expansion of the home recovery programme to cover pregnant women is because more residents are becoming familiar and comfortable with the scheme, MOH said, and its “onboarding processes and medical support structures become more established”.

Home recovery is the default option of care for the majority of Covid-19 patients.

As of Friday, among all Covid-19 community cases who have been onboarded or admitted, 17,766, or 71.2 per cent of them, are undergoing home recovery.

MOH added on Saturday that more general practitioners (GP) will also be onboarded to provide telemonitoring support for patients on the home recovery programme.

Private sector hospitals will expand their overall hospital bed capacity to manage Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients and set up treatment facilities to support the capacity of Singapore’s public hospitals.
