SINGAPORE — Four workers have had their work passes revoked for breaching stay-home notice requirements in the last three months, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said on Friday (Nov 20).

They had left their places of residence without valid reasons and without seeking the authorities’ permission during the period of their stay-home notices, MOM said in a statement.

Of the four workers, three are work permit holders and one is an S-Pass holder.

Two of the workers were detected through the ministry-issued smartwatch after they left their place of residence.

The other two work pass holders were reported by a member of the public and an employer. They were serving their stay-home notice at dedicated facilities and were not required to wear a smartwatch, said MOM.

Forty-four workers have had their work passes revoked for breaching stay-home notice requirements since May 1, the ministry said.

Still, it added that the majority of work pass holders have complied with the requirements that have been put in place to safeguard the health and safety of the community.

“MOM reminds all work pass holders and their employers to comply with the quarantine orders or stay-home notice requirements.

“Those who fail to do so, including persons who tamper with and/or remove the electronic monitoring devices during the quarantine order or stay-home notice period, will be liable to prosecution under the Infectious Diseases (Covid-19 — Stay Orders) Regulations 2020,” MOM said.

The ministry added that it will continue to take enforcement actions  — including the revocation of work passes — against work pass holders who do not comply with the authorities’ requirements.
