SINGAPORE — The application period for the Covid-19 Recovery Grant has been extended by 12 months to continue to provide support for those financially affected by the pandemic, in view of the uneven economic recovery and fluid public health situation.

Applications for the grant can be made until Dec 31, 2022, the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) said in a media release on Tuesday (Dec 21).

The grant was launched at the start of this year to support lower- to middle-income employees and self-employed persons who continue to be financially affected by the pandemic.

It  provides financial assistance to people who have lost their jobs, are on involuntary no-pay leave or have had significant income loss for three or more consecutive months.

MSF said that as of Dec 5 this year, the grant had supported about 27,000 people and it had disbursed about S$57 million in total.

Applications for the grant were meant to close on Dec 31 this year.

Eligible applicants will now be able to receive up to a total of three tranches of grant support over 2021 and 2022, with each tranche comprising three months of financial assistance, an increase from the cap of two tranches in 2021, MSF added.

Those who are receiving or have received the grant previously can apply for a renewal from their final month of grant assistance, or after their assistance has ended.

Applicants for a third tranche of the recovery grant may do so from Jan 1 next year and they will also receive further assistance with their job search from public agencies such as the Employment and Employability Institute as well as Workforce Singapore.

As part of the current eligibility criteria, all grant applicants must have been economically active before their application.

Applications made in 2022 will require proof of work for at least six months between January 2020 and December 2021, or a declaration of annual net trade income made in 2020 or 2021.

To align with the extended application period of the recovery grant, MSF will take reference from the self-employed person’s average monthly net trade income in 2020 or 2021 when computing the extent of income loss.

All other eligibility criteria remain unchanged.

Application for the grant remains open online at go.gov.sg/CRG.

Those who need help with their online application may contact the ComCare Call hotline (1800-222-0000), email Ask_SSO [at] msf.gov.sg, or visit their nearest Social Service Office.
